1.     Target Audience - College students, Adults

2.     Materials - Use of computers, and training/tutorial video.

3.     Objectives – The student will be able to plan an animation utilizing the web tool GoAnimate with the features provided by the site. The student will be able to access goanimate.com and create an animation of their choice. The student will have access to a creative tool that will allow them to approach projects in an unique way.

- On Thursday:
1.  Have students setup an account.
2.  Allow students to begin using the tool; familiarize themselves with tool.

4. Save their work and share it publicly for viewing the next day.

5.     GoAnimate is what I designed my RILS around. GoAnimate, in short, is an animation tool that allow users to create a variety of animation with the use a computer and no downloading necessary.
6.     Social learning – Students are given the time to brainstorm and plan out what type of animation they would like to create. Because the animation is creator's choice, students are given a chance to reach inside pull out that creative side of themselves.

7.     Connections –  Since GoAnimate is an animation tool, its great as a starter animation tool for beginners. It gives them a preview of how basic animation production is done and processes that are taken to create an animation show.

8.     Product – An online animation.

9.     Assessment –   Students will be given a survey to evaluate their experience with the program. It will consist of about six essay questions which they have to answer to complete the survey.
10. Reflection  - The student will be asked to present their animation to their peers and give peer-to-peer critique. The teacher will also view these animations and give a critique.

My Reflection of the overall RILS process
GoAnimate was a pretty neat tool to work with. The students I work with seem excited about learning it and in fact couldn’t wait to start creating. GoAnimate allowed students that weren’t given that special drawing talent to express their creativity with the pre-made characters.

I think GoAnimate would make a great creative tool to use in classroom. I had fun working with it and so did the students I worked with.

PE5_GoAnimate! (Part 2)

Thumbnail of animation themes.
Ok, as I stated in my last post, GoAnimate allows you to create quick animation for varies. Ranging from advertising products and such to school projects. GoAnimate is a pretty simple tool to use, no advance study or how-to -do video is needed but if you need to see one they have it ready for view.

Character editor for the lil peepz.

GoAnimate allows users to create animation from nine (9) different types of themes. I used the lil peepz theme for the animation I created. It was made for a recent project, I thought would be great as my RILS to go more in-depth with it. By using some of the other features that the program offers for free users. You can check out one the parts to my project, as it was a two (2) part video, by clicking here.

PE4_GoAnimate! (Part 1)

Discovering Web 2.0 Tools…

How would you like to learn about a way to be an animator without knowing how to draw? Have you ever had animation idea that you would never make it to paper? Or maybe you want to living up your class with a creative project? If any of those situations have plagued you, look no further…GoAnimate is here!

GoAnimate is a neat creative tool that allows everyone to be there own animator. GoAnimate believes that everyone has a story to tell and should be able to share. However with the limited tools that are available its become difficult and time consuming. With GoAnimate, users are able to create animation in no time. GoAnimate characters are predesigned and can be later customized to your liking. With a free account, GoAnimate allows you to create an animation 2 minutes in length and a few themes, action move, etc. to use as well. So it would be pretty cool use for a small project. Although with upgraded account use have unlimited access to all they have offer…Trust me, its A LOT of STUFF!!

The first time I used this creative tool was during my Brain Based Learning course. I thought it was interesting when I found it. I wanted to do something a little different than what everyone else was doing. I mean who wants to be seen as the same as everyone else.  So GoAnimate allowed me to create a simple animation that explained brain based learning. Although, I had to break it up into two parts, it still turned out great in the end.

I can see this being used in all classes other than just art classes. It’s a nice simple tool that would get interested in the art world for sure and may lead into wanted to try out some advance tools like Adobe Flash, to name one.

Well until next time…
